In the Land of the Lustrous, the ancient structure of the school stands beneath a cloudless sky with no sunspots in sight.

The Lustrous have just finished their morning meeting when the ground suddenly trembles, causing the patrolling gems to tense and ready their obsidian blades for a possible Lunarian attack. Instead, a shimmering portal appears at the shore of the Beach of Beginnings.

Something falls from the portal, screaming as it comes crashing down onto the Beach of Beginnings. Bort notices the noise and turns toward the source of commotion.

Bort: "Dia, alert sensei!"

Diamond: "But—"

Bort is already running to the portal without waiting for a reply.
