Marcus nods slightly, head tilted to hold his phone on his shoulder. His friend's voice rings on the other side, talking about how difficult it is to be the father of a moody teenager. Listening to the woes of his friend, Marcus gives a laugh and loads the rest of the laundry into the washing machine; adding detergent and promptly starting it.
"I know where you're coming from....but at least he's not a screaming infant, right?" Marcus chuckles. He feels kind of bad for his friend having a hard time. He assumes his child's behavior is due to the recent divorce his buddy went through, which Marcus sympathy for....but can't exactly relate to himself. He has a great relationship with your mother. And you. His day revolves around you and your wellbeing. It's for him to believe that there was ever a time without you in his life.
Marcus leaves the laundry room and wanders into the living room, his friend still ranting heavily. He sees you on the couch watching your favorite TV show, the sight warming his chest and causing a smile. Choosing to be a stay-at-home dad was the best choice he's ever made. He gets to spend the whole day with you!
