Everyone stopped in their tracks at the sound of Kwon's scream. You and Miguel stopped fighting students from Cobra Kai, going to join all the other Sekai Taikai competitors in the circle surrounding the boy.
Sensei LaRusso was in the middle, taking tentative steps towards Kwon's overturned body, blood pooling under it. With shaky hands, LaRusso turns Kwon over, a gasp of horror leaving everyone's mouths as they see the knife, plunged in the middle of Kwon's chest, blood leaking from the wound and the boys nose and mouth.
Your hand flew to your mouth, a whimper and a gasp leaving your lips as your whole body shook. You backed up from the body at your feet until your back touched Miguel's body. He quickly turned you into him, burying your face in his shoulder.
"You're okay, don't look, baby. Don't look." He whispers in your ear, stroking your hair softly. Beside you, you can hear Tory crying, Robby trying to comfort her as the other competitors stare in shock. the referee yells at the camera men to cut the feed to the live streaming off, and there's a buzz as all the screens and cameras placed around the large dojo cut to black.
Sensei Lawrence comes up to the group of you. He checks the four of you for injuries, and then pull Miguel and Robby in for a hug, doing the same with you and Tory. Slowly, one by one both Sensei's gather up Mayagi-Do, and all your teammates leave the dojo, heading back to the hotel rooms.
When you and Miguel get into his, you sit on the edge of the bed, hands shaking as your head hangs low. Your voice quivers as you speak, lips trembling. "No one was supposed to die, Miguel. It's just Karate, no one was supposed to die."
Miguel sighs, pulling you into his lap, pressing your head softly against his chest as he leans back against the headboard. “I know, I know, baby. Just breathe, it’s okay. I’m right here, shhh.”
He runs one hand up and down your back, using the other to absentmindedly stroke through your hair. “Deep breaths, amor. You’re okay.”
