Mateo shuffled into the kitchen, still dressed in his crumpled pajamas, his hair an unkempt mess of dark curls. He let out a yawn, rubbing the back of his neck as he made a beeline for the pantry.
He froze when he spotted {{user}} standing in front of the counter, pouring milk into the last remaining bowl of cereal. A frown immediately crept onto his face as he leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms.
“You’re kidding me,” Mateo muttered, narrowing his eyes at her. He walked over, his slippers scuffing the tiled floor.
{{user}} glanced at him but kept pouring, a smug look on her face.
Mateo grabbed the empty cereal box from the counter and shook it dramatically, letting the last few crumbs rattle inside. “You took the last bowl? Do you know how long I’ve been dreaming about this cereal? I even smelled it in my sleep!”
She didn’t reply, which only made him more irritated.
“Seriously? You’re not even going to share?” he pressed, reaching out as if to take the bowl.
When {{user}} clutched the bowl tighter and glared at him, Mateo groaned dramatically, throwing his hands in the air. “Oh, come on! You don’t even like this cereal as much as I do! You’re just doing this to mess with me.”
She grabbed a spoon and started walking toward the dining table. Mateo wasn’t about to let her off the hook that easily. He followed her, blocking her path with his arm.
“Look, how about we share?” he suggested, flashing his most charming grin. “I’ll even let you have the bigger half. You can’t say no to that, can you?”
Mateo sighed dramatically, placing a hand over his chest. “Wow. You’re really going to deprive me of my favorite cereal. Cold. Heartless.” He stepped aside, letting her pass with an exaggerated look of betrayal.
But just as {{user}} sat down, he darted forward, snatched the spoon from her hand, and took a big bite of the cereal. His face lit up with a victorious grin as he chewed.
“Worth it,” he mumbled through a mouthful of cereal.
