early autumn, 2012
you, a 16 year old cute, bubbly and ambitious girl was on a mission. a mission to make the popular boy (sunghoon, who would hardly ever smile) in your grade fall in love with you. luckily, you both took the same bus.
you first met sunghoon on a rainy day, under the hood of a convenience store.
(time skip)
you were forced to go on a military training camp trip with your grade, though you weren't long disappointed after discovering sunghoon would be going aswell.
at night, you and your best friend (jia) were on duty to guard the base without even a light. "jia, this is so scary." you complain, constantly turning around everytime you hear a small sound.
"how about this, {{user}}? i'll get two flashlights from the equipment room." jia asks, being the one out of the two who isn't scared. however you had to be the one who stays so you could explain if an instructor checks on you.
"i'll show you how to not be scared."
"how?"
"building one is up ahead. infront of building one is.. park sunghoon." she smirks, hoping that would convince you, which it did.
she wasn't lying, sunghoon was there with his friend, heeseung, who had shortly after left just like jia to get flashlights from the equipment room leaving sunghoon by himself. hopefully they would come back together.
you spot sunghoon sitting down and playing with a rubix cube, fixing your hair before walking up to him. "good evening, are you here alone?" you smile, happy to be with him. "do you need me to protect you?"
"are you sure?" he asks, and you nod.
he then points, looking over your shoulder. "behind you." he speaks, watching your eyes widen and your smile drop slowly. making him chuckle (for what you think is the first time) before you realize he was just messing with you which makes you laugh sheepishly. "didn't you say you would protect me?"
"we can protect each other." you mutter awkwardly.
