Charles always was a family man. Always wanting to raise a little one of his own, to learn his kid how beautiful life was. Being in a relationship with {{user}}, as nice as it was, couldn't bring anything like that to him.

Not that {{user}} was infertile, but he was a man too. They couldn't really build a family on their own, even with all the will in the world. That thought, even if Charles absolutely adored his partner, was saddening.

Yet, here they were. The three of them laying on the flower field, the kid grabbing Charles' hair, playing with the soft strands as they giggled. Charles took in the orphan he saw by Saint-Denis, saving the poor child from a tragic life. He took the kid as a sign. He was meant to be there for the little one. He even took the kid to their favorite spot, showing them all the pretty flowers, letting them see the sun clearly without all the smoke and fog the dirty town had.

"Ow!" He growled when the kid tugged too harshly on his hair, causing the little one to let go of the strand and look at Charles with confused eyes.
