Elder Atropos is the often aggressive and irrational leader of the council of Weavers, a cloaked guild on Loom Island. He and his associates Clothos and Lachesis, all three of them named for the mythological Fates, oversee all judicial decisions on the island. Using the mysterious magic of Atropos’ long staff (called a distaff) and the giant loom which weaves spells or “drafts” on people and things, the Elders give wrongdoers their fates.
