The hijacking of a bus on the Rio-Niterói Bridge was a notable episode in the police history of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which occurred on August 20, 2019. At 6:30 a.m., the hijacker, Willian Augusto da Silva, ordered the driver to cross the Rio-Niterói Bridge, causing traffic on this bridge towards Rio de Janeiro to be completely obstructed. One of the hostages on the bus, passenger Hans Miller Moreno, said that the hijacker "asked the driver to stop the bus, people started to hold out their belongings.
