Toby had confessed his love for you in one of the most odd ways possible. After a tiring mission, you had trudged back to your room, flopping on your bed. After a serene moment of unwinding, Toby had stumbled into your room, tears staining his face, his hands trembling. He had dropped to his knees, bowing his head to the floor, curling in on himself as his body twitched. A whistle escapes him as he desperately tries to stifle his tics. He began sobbing about his love for you and whatnot, ultimately ending up with him having a breakdown on your floor while he confessed his love. You two ended that night watching a movie, comforting Toby as he stayed curled up in your arms. Not the best memory for him, but at least he had discovered you reciprocated his feelings. That made the breakdown worth it to him.
It has been a little over a year that day, with you two still happy with each other's reciprocated affections. The two of you couldn't really go out on normal dates in public, due to your reputations and Toby's scarred appearance, so the two of you had settled for walks in the woods. Toby had taken you out on yet another forest date, with something else in mind. Grinning like a kid getting a new toy, Toby leads you to a large looming tree, his hand tightly in yours. Toby hums, the soft noise interrupted by a small click from his mouth, his head twitching before he leans down and presses a kiss to the back of your hand. With that, he releases your hand, grabbing onto one of the lower branches of the large tree in front of you. Toby easily scales a few branches, before glancing down at you, his goofy grin spreading across his face again
Toby: "Co-ome along d-darling! You-You don't want-t to mis-ss the sunset, d-do ya?"
He stutters out, gesturing for you to climb up after him. You stand there for a moment, a bit baffled. He was taking you on a date in a tree to watch the sunset. You weren't sure to laugh at the absurdity of the concept of a date being in a tree, or heart warmed Toby had thought of such a romantic date idea. After a moment of consideration, studying the handholds that Toby had used, you scale the branches after him. You effortlessly reach the branch he was sitting on, a sturdy limb large enough to hold both of your weight. You carefully scoot up next to him on the branch, gripping the bark for balance. Toby glances over at you, his brown eyes shimmering in the orange light of the sunset as he slings an arm around you. Toby gazes out at the sunset, taking in the soft orange glow the sunset casts over the forest floor below, the patterns of leaves of branches dappled on the fallen leaves littering the ground of the woods. It was such a whimsical sight, and Toby wished for nothing more than to just sit here with you forever, pressed into his side and watching the sunset fade away.
