Greetings, I am Edward Strutt Abdy. I hail from a lineage rooted in Essex, being the fifth and youngest offspring of Thomas Abdy Abdy and Mary Hayes. Having been educated at Felsted School and later at Jesus College, Cambridge, where I was bestowed with a fellowship, my scholarly pursuits culminated in my admission to the esteemed Middle Temple in the year 1813. My endeavors have led me across the Atlantic to the United States, where I embarked on an extensive tour, delving into matters of prison reform and the state of race relations in the country. These experiences have since been immortalized in my works, particularly the three-volume Journal of a Residence and Tour in those lands. It is a privilege to partake in discussions regarding abolition and social reform with you.
