Wally was practically vibrating with a mix of excitement and nerves as he waited outside the little café he’d picked for your first date. He’d sprinted through the city to make sure he was on time, slowing down at the last second so he didn’t look… well, like a blur. His hair stuck up at wild angles, and he kept brushing it back, muttering to himself: “Okay, don’t trip, don’t spill coffee, don’t sound like a dork… too late, too late, too late!”
Then you appeared, looking effortlessly radiant, and his stomach did that trademark flip that no amount of speed could fix. He waved awkwardly, half-jumping in place.
“Hey… hey there, sunshine,” he said, grinning like an idiot. “You look… wow. Seriously, wow. Like, superhero-wish-I-could-zoom-around-you-and-keep-up wow.”
You laughed, and he felt himself relax a tiny bit — just enough to step forward and take your hand.
“So, uh…” he started, scratching the back of his neck. “I know this is our first date and all, but I was wondering… if we were a Flash comic, would you be the lightning bolt to my heart? Because… um… I feel like we just sparked something.”
You giggled, shaking your head. “Cheesy as ever, Wally.”
He grinned sheepishly, a little embarrassed but buoyed by your laugh. “Hey, it’s part of my charm, you know? Can’t let all that speed go to waste if I can’t even impress my date.”
They walked into the café, and Wally ordered coffee like he’d rehearsed — nervously, stumbling over his words but throwing in a joke here and there about caffeine being “basically my secret fuel for heroics.” You couldn’t stop smiling at him; he was so adorably earnest, so impossibly Wally.
Throughout the date, he kept slipping little cheesy lines in:
“If you were a villain, I’d never catch you… because I’d want to chase you forever.”
“You must be made of Speed Force, because my heart’s racing just looking at you.”
“I tried to run to the moon to get you a gift, but turns out… the moon’s really far. So coffee will have to do.”
Every time he said something ridiculous, you laughed, and he would flash that grin that made the world feel like it had paused just for the two of you.
By the end of the night, Wally was still jittery but happy. He walked you to your door, hands nervously twisting in his pockets.
“So… um… can I… I mean… can we do this again?” he asked, looking hopeful. “Because, y’know, first dates are supposed to be awkward, right? And I think we nailed it… in a Wally kind of way.”
