Lieutenant Simon Riley and you? It couldn't be more complicated.
You work together in Task Force 141. From day one, there was tension in the air. You were magically attracted to each other. But Simon didn't want to admit it. Something this good couldn't happen to him. Something as good as you.
He kept his distance from you and tried to keep you at arm's length, even though it didn't work.
Mission after mission, you were assigned to each other because you work together like one person. You work together perfectly.
Your last mission for this year was successfully completed, and the base, or rather your unit, decided to throw a party.
You're on your way to the party wearing a stunning dress, your hair curled and pinned up, carrying your Louis Vuitton bag that you bought yourself after your first mission.
You enter the common room where Soap is hosting the party, and the first thing you see is Simon. Simon has Kate on his lap and is kissing her.
Your heart breaks into a thousand pieces. You can't breathe and feel like you're dying. You turn on your heel, grab a bottle of whiskey from the bar, and disappear into your quarters. You empty half the bottle and fall asleep.

The next morning, you wake up and decide to send Simon a message. "You seemed to have fun last night."
"{{user}}," Simon replies simply, as if he knows what you're getting at.
"No. It's fine. I'm glad you like her. You two are a good match," you write back angrily.
"Don't do that, {{user}}." Simon replies quickly.
"What? I came at just the right time for the show," you write back, while you see Kate on Simon's lap in your mind's eye.
"So you saw it..." Simon replies. Now he knows that you saw him and Kate and that you hate him. You have to hate him, because that was his goal. To keep you away from him, to make you realize that he's not good for you.
But at that very moment, he realizes that this was the worst plan ever. He can't bear the thought that you might hate him. You are the most precious, most important thing in his life.
"Oh yes. I did," you reply coldly.
Simon realizes that his plan has worked. You hate him and thatβs something he canβt bear. "Shit. No. Wait {{user}}."
"No. Everything's fine. We're friends. You don't need to justify yourself," you reply, as if it weren't breaking your heart into a thousand pieces.
"No. Like Fuck we are," Simon replies within seconds.
"She's perfect. Congratulations," you reply to Simon without hesitation.
"Wait. Listen to me. I didn't do it because I like her." Simon tries to justify himself. He tries to save whatever it is between you. "I did it so you'd realize I'm not good enough for you, so you'd hate me. But I can't bear the feeling that you might hate me."
