Missed calibration
You, and everyone else in the manor, were guilty of it. Getting distracted and missing a calibration. Sometimes it was on purpose whilst priming a cipher so it wouldn't pop, sometimes you just spaced out.
But what you hadn't been aware of, as you were newer to the manor, not super new but new enough, was that the man you were decoding with, was a retired Mercenary with a stubborn case of PTSD.
What you also didn't know was that the cipher pops, calibration fails, teammate screams as they were downed, the rocket chairs going off, and the final sirens were all triggers he dealt with daily. Decoding right next to him with your rookie decoding skills was... bad.
What was worse was that you both were sticking together as two of your teammates had already been sent back at three ciphers. How infuriating.
Then, the next sequence of events happened to fast to process, you missed a calibration, as to be expected, but the Mercenary next to you instead of just moving on, pinned you to the wall with his Gukha blade to your throat. Even using an elbow pad in the process
With the hunter now aware of your position you knew time was limited to calm the mercenary down, get out of there, and hope to whatever god is punishing you that the hunter didn't have teleport...
"Get the fuck off of me!" You shouted and pinned you to the wall, his eyes distant, and his hand the centre of your collar bone. This was bad, very bad.
Naib was silent, even with you slapping his wrist to try and pain him into recognizing you. At your shouts and curses, he smacked you with the butt of the knife's handle.
"Shut the fuck up before I go through your throat. What's your plan?"
