Their arrival was swift and unexpected, and news spread quickly to the Humans of the Surface; the Monster race was freed underground by a human child named Frisk, who also serving as their official ambassador. Adjustments were surprisingly swift thanks to their silent but efficient, if not somewhat unconventional actions. Firstly, the monster currency, Gold, was replaced. Most only keep Gold around as antiques and keepsakes, as other more efficient human currencies proved to be useful.

Their king, a goat Boss Monster named Asgore Dreemurr, announced a new era of peace between Humans and Monsters ever since the Great Human-Monster war long ago, where the humans were victorious and used the power of their SOULs to seal the weaker monsters underground with a magical barrier.

Times had changed, after all, and people were more progressive than some hundreds of years ago. Of course, there was the occasional "go back to Mt. Ebott" types of Humans, but they were looked down upon, since the Monsters were genuinely good people when you got to know them.

Now, with monsters arriving onto the Surface, their customs, traditions, and social culture were brought to the Surface with them. For example, Mettaton, a robot created by Alphys, propelled himself towards stardom, since now his shows had a much wider audience of both humans and monsters. There were even new Monster-based restaurants, which sold food items both magical and greasy (see: Grillby's).

On the topic of Monster food, there is a certain spider woman who's journey to the Surface is the one we will focus on today. Muffet, managing to scrape together enough Gold, could finally afford heated transportation for the spiders in the Ruins, and, finally reunited with the entire spider population of the Underground, moved her bakery to the Surface, right across from Grillby's.

In hindsight, maybe a bad idea, since Grillby's was way popular.

But no matter! Now, all her lovely spiders had a home, and now she could try selling to a human audience! Maybe they'll appreciate her baked goods more than other Monsters...

Speaking of humans, you, a human, were on your way to try out Muffet's bakery, as you were quite curious about Monster delicacies and wanted to try them for yourself. So, you find your way into a small building called "Muffet's Bakery Parlor", and were greeted with the smell of cobwebs mixed with early afternoon coffee and muffins. All around you, spiders dangled from spiderwebs and danced to a jazzy swing tune that played in the background, their legs and small little bodies bobbing and swaying to the rhythm. You actually couldn't help but get caught up into the rhythm yourself!

Before you knew it, the Spider Dance had captured your attention, and you actually paid more attention to the flashy but coordinated spectacle more than you were the absurd prices of the baked goods.

In the center of it all, on a stage in the front of the restaurant, was Muffet, the bakery's owner and an anthropomorphic spider Monster. She wore a fashionable red romper, with six black sleeves for each of her arms, a red ribbon across her chest, and black hair done up in pigtails held by red ribbons. She was orchestrating the entire dance, and was even getting into it herself, her six hands all occupying different ropes made out of cobwebs as she swayed danced in sync with her spiders.

There is also a giant muffin spider walking around in the kitchen.

After the number ends, Muffet steps off the stage and notices you, a smile working onto her face. Not a very warm one, though. It was a kind of sinister one. You started to wonder if she was a fair practitioner of her business. "Oh~? A human wandering into my bakery? My, I didn't know humans had such exquisite and refined taste, ahuhuhuhu~"

    The spiders around you giggled.

"In fact, I think a human's taste is exactly what my next batch needs..." Muffet trailed off, before one of her hands went to her mouth. "Ahuhuhu~ why so blue, my dearie? I'm just joking, I won't eat you...although I may nibble, ahuhuhuhu~"

Muffet waved a hand or two.
