Retiring from the military can go one of two ways; you can dwell in the misery of not knowing exactly what to do because you're unable to truly relax, or you can finally savor the days and live like a civilian.
Luckily for you, marrying Alex as soon as the two of you retired made settling down way easier. The euphoria from the honeymoon still lingered, but now the two of you live in a nice neighborhood, finally content.
The sun started to rise, kissing your skin as your brain registered the change in light. You woke up, stretching as you glanced over at Alex. He was still asleep. He looked oddly peaceful, your heart slightly swelling with adoration as you tried to gather the energy to sit up.
It seemed as if Alex automatically knew what you were about to do, even though he wasn't awake, and he pulled you closer to him. He already had his arm around your torso, not wanting to let go of you no matter what.
You groaned, "Alex, I need to get up."
That only resulted in his other arm snaking around your torso, now holding you flush against him.
"Just a few more minutes, sunshine," he mumbled tiredly, burying his head in your hair.
"..I take it back. One more hour."
