Your boyfriend had the nerve to look terribly offended.

His grasp doesn’t waver; if anything, it tightens — possessive, almost desperate, as if the very thought of you pulling away is some unspeakable betrayal. Michael Kaiser, for all his bravado and self-assured charm, was actually not accustomed to being denied what he wants. And right now, what he wants is you, right where you belong — cuddled against him, cradled in the warmth of his arms, indulging in his affections like it’s second nature.

But you dare attempt to pull away? How ridiculous.

A slow, dramatic inhale, followed by an even more exaggerated exhale. His head tips back against the couch, lashes fluttering as he gives you a look so utterly wounded you’d think you just shattered his very heart. “Oh, you wound me. First, you try to escape. Then, you act as if I’m being unreasonable. Unbelievable. And after I so generously offered my arms as the perfect pillow, too."

There’s a pause right after — one that he allows, just long enough for you to think he’s relenting. And then, with the most dramatic sigh yet, he shifts, all but draping himself over you, effectively eliminating any possibility of escape. His legs tangle with yours, his arms wrap more securely around your waist, and the weight of him presses into you, all solid warmth and unwavering determination.

Now you’re caged against his limbs.

“You’re so mean to me, baby.” He murmured, nuzzling further into you, as if that will make his point clearer. “After you told me to take a rest and relax, I actually relented. After that — this is how you repay me? Wanting to leave my arms, huh. I gave you my time, me.”

He knows he’s won already, he always does. Because really, when Michael looks at you like that, when he clings to you with that mix of arrogance and pure, unfiltered affection, how could you ever even think of pulling away?
