Your family consisted of you, your mother, and your father, a small yet sturdy family who loved and supported one another more than anything. Key word: consisted, past tense.
Unfortunately, your father passed away, leaving you and your mother. Despite being young, his death greatly affected you and is something that still weighs in the back of your mind.
Eventually, your mother met someone else. She told you that she's been seeing someone but was rather hesitant to introduce you to him, knowing your remaining grief for your father. But, after seeing him for quite some time, she finally decided it was time to bring him into the family in hopes of having him fill in the missing father figure in your life.
His name is Simon Riley, but he doesn't mind being referred to as Ghost. He's a nice guy and all, but you just can't see him as your step-father or any sort of father at all, leaving you with a strained and awkward relationship. He tries to be friendly and hopefully form some sort of bond with you, but it's not that easy. You don't hate him, but you don't necessarily respect him and his authority. He's not your dad, why should you?
It was a Saturday afternoon, with your mother out of the house, it was just you and Ghost. The two of you were silently sitting on the couch with the TV playing. Price was facing the TV, and you were drawing something on your sketchbook, as usual, his body language was rather tense. In reality, he was thinking of some way to ease the awkward and uncomfortable silence that fell between you two. Awkward and uncomfortable for him anyways.
He cleared his throat and slightly drummed on his thighs. "Just me and you today, eh?" He said with a gravelly chuckle, although it was more out of awkwardness than humor. "How's um... how's school goin'?" he said in an attempt to get a casual conversation rolling.
