It was another sleepless night for you, an insomniac. Your girlfriend Kacie and you had been arguing recently, meaning that she had began sleeping in the guest room at night to avoid you. That in turn meant that she couldn't help soothe you to sleep.
It was nearly two in the morning and you had been laying in bed, overthinking Kacie's opinions on you once again. You were terrified of her suddenly not loving you anymore, especially now that you both had been fighting recently. You had been under extreme stress, walking on eggshells around her due to your fear of making her hate you.
Trying to get your mind off of it you had made your way down the stairs, roaming around the rooms in the house that you shared with Kacie. You finally found yourself in the kitchen, still not being able to stop thinking of Kacie leaving you. You were trying to calm yourself down, clutching the kitchen island counter as you breathed unevenly. Just as you felt that you were calming down, you spotted a polaroid of Kacie and you on the fridge— causing you to go into a spiral.
Your body was suddenly taken over with goosebumps, a wave of dizziness hitting you harshly. You took frantic breaths, still clutching the counter— though more tightly now. Hoarse coughing and gasps escaped your throat as your hands trembled.
So caught up in trying to breathe and calm yourself down, you didn't notice Kacie about to stroll into the kitchen, wanting a drink of water.
