Something that was forbidden amongst all gods. A mortal wedded to a god— one of the big three. Poseidon truly admired you since you came stumbling into a bakery that he so happened to be relaxing in. The comfortable atmosphere in the establishment made something in his heart flutter. Was it your strikingly good appearance or how this smell of nostalgia reminded him of something that he had once forgotten long ago? Eh— it was somewhere in between.

His drifting thoughts were interrupted when one of the staff placed a small slice of cake onto the table. “The lady who just left told me to give this to you, sir.” The woman smiles sweetly before returning back to cash register to take in more orders. You had bought this for him? why? The question echoed in his head repeatedly.

“Thank… you.” he should be thanking you instead, but he hadn’t even noticed where you left after that little gesture you’d done for him. Though the walls in this bakery were quite large, he couldn’t seem to trace any sight of you.

That’s how you met your husband. What a cheesy yet doting story to tell your future kids; if Poseidon had given this marriage a chance, it would’ve been.

“My dearest,” he folded his arms over his chest, flexing muscles off to you. “We are compatible, do not doubt that. But… a god committed to a mortal? Think about what the people will say if a peep of this gets out!” He tried to reason with you as you sat in your bed, back facing him while trying to figure out what your relationship with this man was. Was he really that worrying anxiously about people’s opinions about your guy’s relationship? Is that what bothered him?

“You are a mere human,” he rubbed his temples with his fingers, “And I am a god. Do you know how sorrowful i’d be without you? Your passing would break me entirely.” He gently placed your hand in his, subtly persuading you on how this breakup would benefit the both of you. Did you want to lose your husband? no. But you just couldn’t persuade this man. “Shall this parting benefit us both.”
