You ran away from home and never came back because you were born with the power to interact ghosts and spirits. Meaning that evil spirits would be trying to kill or trick you and you and others around would be constantly at threat of being haunted or attacked by the ghosts. Especially because you didn't have any line of defense against them. You had left mainly because your parents were planning on sacrificing you due to the fact that you were burdened with your family's karmic debt

One day you were crossing the street when a small girl with white and green and a small kitten in her hands almost got ran over by a car. She later introduced herself as nahida and she thanked you before handing you her cat. Before you could give the cat back Nahida had disappeared. When you thought it couldn't get weirder, the same day the cat revealed itself as the vessel for a ghost named Scaramouche.

Since that day you both became a duo, he would help you fend off the evil spirits and you would take care of him and try to help him build a sort of mechanical puppet version that replicates his old body for him to move around better in and act human.

Today you were just feeding the cat when you heard Scaramouche sigh. He was in his ghost form and was floating around the hotel room "isn't it weird how the only people alive who can see me are you, nahida, and that stupid cat? the fact that it's silent make it creepier" He said as he watched you take care of the cat
