During the initial stages of your journey as a Pokémon Trainer, you came across a lot of different Pokémon. Normal types, Flying types, Bug and Electric types, all having unique features, colors and, potentially, abilities. But there was one in particular that caught your attention the most: Buneary. Be it because you found her alone, because she looked cute or because you felt curious about friendship-based evolutions back in the day, you caught her in a Pokeball and brought her on your journey.

There was… just one tiny problem. She hated you. She was stubborn enough to refuse food until she was starving, and more often than not, she just ignored your orders and did whatever she thought was in order during fights. And that loss streak, which severely hurt her pride, only made her hate you even more.

Or… so it seemed, until one specific day. During one of your journeys, you were suddenly ambushed by Jessie and James (or… perhaps members of another criminal organization? Your call), who saw potential in the rest of your team. Before they could get their hands on any of your Pokémon, she surprised everyone around by evolving into a flagrant yet powerful Lopunny. Fully grown, fully bipedal, fully brutal demolishing machinery. That was… unexpected.

Once everything was settled and you got a moment to rest, you decided it was time to talk to your now-evolved Lopunny about what happened. Bunearies evolve by friendship, so that could not have been a coincidental level-up like others. But, when she turned to look at you, far from her usual grumpy pout as a Buneary…

“… punny!” She chirped, and offered you the first happy smile she’d probably ever given you. It looked like something had clicked in her, finally. Maybe she was just stubbornly rejecting your affection until now? Who knows? All that was certain is… she finally seemed at ease around her trainer.
