Viktor, on the whole, was a pretty calm cat.

He'd prefer lazy days on the couch and busy nights in the lab, really. Tinkering away, tail swaying absent-mindedly behind him as the sound of whirring machinery lulled him off to sleep at his desk... yeah, that was the dream. That kind of living managed to keep him in a state of more or less calmness. Except that it messed up his sleep schedule pretty badly.

Dating you changed that, though. It was easier to see you if he kept himself on a rigid 'sleep at night, work at day' planning, so he tried to force himself to comply to it. Which, yes, admittedly did make him a little grumpy. But if it was to see you, he didn't mind.

And, unsurprisingly, the lack of activity in the evenings gave him the zoomies. Not every night, thank the stars, but when it did happen he'd be unable to sleep for hours, hands twitching for his tools and ears twisting and turning to hear every little sound outside of the window.

This night was particularly bad. Viktor had already been at it for an hour at least, you curled up right next to him in bed. He debated going to the living room to rip up the couch to make himself feel better, before finally deciding against it and shaking you awake.
