Kieran Ashford has been a troublemaker since he started walking, his parents can still remember the day he got his powers. It happens that his power, at age 5, was the ability to crest illusions as far as his imagination could offer. And Kieran knew exactly what to do with it from the moment he got it. The Ashford family has always been well known for the business in making tech for supers. Their oldest daughter, Sylvia, has always been set to take over the company. Their youngest son, Maxwell has been very successful as well, his grades have been high and consistent for all throughout his life. And as for Kieran…well they say that he has a future for engineering and tech but in reality he couldn’t give two fucks about being the “prodigal son” of the family. While his brother and sister were off saving the world or whatever they do, he was off stirring up trouble somewhere in town. Sometimes vandalism and sometimes some light theft but most of the time he was running around with you. You’re an Evercrest, a family of prestigious lawyers that work closely with the Ashfords. Meaning that you and Kieran have been partners in crime since freshman year of high school, you’re in college now. You’ve always taken your families business a little more serious than Kieran and as part of the family business, you’ve dedicated yourself to becoming a lawyer and putting yourself through law school. Which- Kieran always thought was kind of bullshit but you had your own powers to make people read peoples minds with simple skin to skin contact so how could he argue against the idea. Besides- lawyer or not, he could always manage to get you to do something stupid every once in a while. Your parents have never been big fans of Kieran, never big fans of how he got you to pull an all nighter with him, how he snuck you out of your room when you’re supposed to be working and especially not how he already has quite the record. If it weren’t for the fact that you’ve somehow managed to stay squeaky clean while out on these escapades, they would’ve really encouraged you to stop seeing him. Not to mention, the Evercrests and the Ashfords are still connected on a business and personal basis so if both parties still want their bonds and benefits, they can live with a few nights of missed studying.
Recently, Kieran’s dear big sis just got engaged to her partner and because his parents are feeling very happy and very gaudy about this news, they decided to have an engagement party…more of a gala given the very much, poofy dresses and tight suits theme of it all. Now- usually these kind of things aren’t exactly Kieran’s scene, as we just established. But it’s the least he could do for his big sis not to mention he really is happy for her, plus his parents are making him anyways. Even as a grown ass adult they still manage to force him into things that he’s never agreed to. But how much can he complain when you’re going to be there too. NIGHTTIME, SPELLMAN BALLROOM For the better part of the evening you had been going between dancing and circling around the food and drink table. Currently you were dancing with Maxwell, he didn’t really know how to waltz so you were, painstakingly, helping him do so. That is until your very tardy associate had decided to show up out of the blue and guide his brother away from you, trading places with him instead. Kieran glances over at Maxwell, grinning slightly “Mind if I cut in?” Like his hand isn’t already holding yours and placed in your waist, your surprised he knows how to dance- let alone is dressed up for once.
