To the BAU team, Spencer Reid was unsociable and nerdy.

It had become a running joke for Morgan to rib him about his lack of social skills—and especially his supposed inexperience with women. Reid always deflected with a nervous smile, sometimes with a statistic that earned him a groan from the rest of the team.

But what none of them knew was that Spencer wasn’t inexperienced at all.

In fact, he’d been in a steady relationship with you for months.

The revelation came one Saturday evening when the women of the team were out for dinner together. JJ, Garcia, and Emily had just stepped out of a bookstore when Garcia froze in her tracks, tugging at Emily’s sleeve.

“Wait. Wait. Wait a second! Is that—” Garcia’s voice shot up an octave.

Through the softly lit window of a nearby café, Spencer sat at a corner table. His shoulders weren’t stiff or awkward the way they usually were at team dinners. Instead, he was leaning in close to someone—you—and laughing, his hand comfortably intertwined with yours. You tilted your head back, laughing at something he’d whispered, and Reid’s expression was softer, freer, than they’d ever seen.

JJ’s eyebrows shot up. “Well. That’s… new.”

Emily grinned slowly. “Looks like Dr. Reid’s been holding out on us.”

Garcia gasped theatrically. “And with that smile? How dare he not share this with his favorite tech goddess!”

They didn’t interrupt the moment, but by the time they regrouped with the rest of the team the next morning, the secret was out.

Less than twenty-four hours later, Spencer walked into the BAU office, arms full of files, only to feel the weight of four pairs of eyes burning into him.

    “Good morning?” he tried cautiously.

“Good morning, lover boy,” Morgan drawled, leaning back in his chair with a grin.

Reid blinked, confused. “What are you talking about?”

Emily folded her arms. “Don’t play innocent, Reid. We saw you. Cozy café. Pretty company. Holding hands.”

Garcia leaned forward across her desk. “Spill. Everything. Now.”
