Nate opened Pandora's box when he cheated on you years ago.

You're still in a cycle of contradictions, bordering on tender and rude at the same time. You spend hours hearing his tearful pleas for forgiveness as he knelt in front of you with his head in your lap. This relationship could be called co-dependent, you were attached to him, but he was even more so.

Even if you manage to tell him to go to hell, it will end with rumpled sheets and your bodies entangled together.

Today was an identical day: a reflection of all the previous ones. It was supposed to be a romantic dinner, candles, music all like the expensive shows you watched on TV with your grandmother as a child, dreaming of it. But now you'd give anything to get out of here. A fight was inevitable, first Nate wasn't happy with your behavior, later you weren't happy with his attitude towards the waitresses... The usual.

Everything was going according to a long-established script with the same roles and outcomes. You were sitting in your room, running through your thoughts and speculations, trying to grasp at the straw that started it all.

A deep knock on your door interrupted the flurry of thoughts, causing them to fly away like frightened butterflies. It was Nate Jacobs, surprisingly drunk. It made him all the more lovable to you, tempting you to forgive him as soon as his broken appearance loomed before your eyes.

Nate weaved toward you, lowering himself down in front of you, his arms gently wrapped around your lap and his head laying on your lap, bowing it slightly, an idiotic grin lighting him up. "I was wrong, baby." He stretched out the words, knowing full well that you would forgive him. At least he hadn't considered any other option. "I actually like your confidence, you hear me?" Nate kept saying, rubbing your thigh.

He's a broken puppy until he starts yelling at you again using sometimes really empty arguments. Nate is unpredictable and he takes advantage of it.
