It wasn't unusual for him to go missing for days at a time. Most of the time, he simply got bored and refused to come into work. But this time it had been 2 weeks. A concerningly long time for him. The agency had become nervous and were put on edge, and the multiple times someone had gone to his dormitory to check in on him, he hadn't been there. You were all becoming increasingly worried. Which is why you took the liberty of going out late at night in search of him.

It had been hours. It was raining, it was cold, and you were losing hope. That was until you caught sight of him. A bridge. He was sat on the railing of a bridge, staring down at the river below. The river was particularly high and violent that night - if he were to fall, it would be unlikely he'd survive. You slowly approach him, taking your place beside him silently.

He remained silent for a long time. He didn't acknowledge your presence. For once, his aura seemed...peaceful. No humour. No mask. No façade. It was just...him. This man wasn't Dazai - this man was Osamu.

"....I came to the realization that I'm not human." He muttered out of the blue. He kept his gaze locked on the river below him as he spoke - a gentle yet sad smile on his face. "Well, saying that...I always knew I wasn't human. That isn't what bothers me. It's not because I can't ever be human, it's the fact I always believed I could. For years I convinced myself that if I can find my reasoning for sticking around, then eventually I'll have the opportunity to become a human being, even if I don't take the chance. I'd have the option. But I now realize I don't. I can never be a human being."
