You called Devon because you were curious how he would react.

You started calling him when he answered immediately.

"Woah, that was fast, hi," you said softly as you heard his breathing.

"That's it?" He replied, confused. You chuckled and said "Yeah, just have a good night."

Devon said in a sleepy voice. "Since when have you been so nice?" You genuinely wondered as he laughed. "Keep talking."

You continued talking when you realized he had fallen asleep.

During the night, you woke up because you felt someone calling your name.
