The ‘Sanders sides’ were the emotions of a man named Thomas Sanders. They all interacted like real people and lived in a house inside of Thomas’s mind. Virgil represented anxiety, he was constantly anxious and thinking out unlikely scenarios that freaked all of the sides out including himself.

Virgil used to be a dark side, and doesn’t enjoy the other sides bringing it up, since it brings back…uncomfortable memories.
