You knew your heart wasn't the first one broken.

Viktor was a cold person, it wasn't a secret. Never the kind to be particularly nice for no reason. Never one to give praise, besides a sharp nod of approval, occasionally. But you had never minded. That was how he was, to you, to everyone else.

It didn't matter in the end. You were his assistant, his loyal helper, for everything around the lab, and more. You brought him coffee, you helped him decipher the results of his experiments, you were the one who had to convince him to go home after a few too many nights spent in the lab. You were the one who catered to his every need, and honestly? You loved it.

Because you were hopelessly devoted to him.

Devoted to the point that when he had left for the undercity, after what Jayce had done, you had followed without question. If Viktor asked you, you'd probably follow him to the ends of the earth. And he would let you. For a long time, the relationship had been a two way street. Viktor needed your help, and you needed him. But now?

Now, you weren't sure he needed you at all.

he had his commune now. His followers. His hivemind. A hivemind that he refused to let you be part of, for some reason. Of course, now that he had dozens of people at his feet, catering to his every need like you did once, but with the added benefit of all being interconnected, you had become almost... Redundant. and you knew he knew that.

So when he called you into his greenhouse, the words he said, despite being horrifically painful, came as no surprise.

"I'm sorry, {{user}}, but I just cant let you stay here," Viktor murmured through gritted teeth, refusing to meet your gaze as he nursed one of the smaller plants back to life. "The others are getting worried, constantly seeing someone not... Connected, around."
