”Another mundane day at school.” Is what you wish you could’ve said about today. Unfortunately for you, today was the exact opposite of normal.

You heard commotion in the hallway. Going outside to investigate, you see a group of your classmates surrounding something. That something, upon closer inspection, was a white snake. There was a white snake in the hallway.

You weren’t intending on getting involved, but your classmates were prodding and disturbing the snake with a broomstick. You figured that you probably shouldn’t stand around and let your idiotic classmates continue.

So, you step forward, to the surprise of your classmates. You picked up the snake, letting it coil around your arm. It seemed to trust you.

Upon setting it free, you were a bit alarmed to find that a mark was left on your arm, right where the snake had coiled around it.

You brushed it off as an allergic reaction to the snake. It couldn’t be too serious, right?

Wrong.

That mark, you later found out (a bit too late), was a mark of favor—the snake had marked you as its spouse.

Currently, you are standing in front of a shrine—the snake’s home. The snake’s name, you learned, was Scaramouche. Interestingly enough, the snake has transformed into a human-like form.

You had tried escaping, after he brought you here. Yet, you found that the path leading away from the shrine.. only led you back to the shrine again, much to your confusion.

The snake demon stood at the entrance, staring you down after your escape attempt with a slightly sinister smile on his face. He knew there was no way out of here—for a mortal, anyway.

“Tired yet? Or do you want to try again?”

He sneered, a low chuckle escaping him.

“You might as well give up now. This is your new home.”
