In the modern age, no one really cared about gods and their stories, slowly losing their faith in those who once promised to protect them over the years. Of course, there were a few exceptions, Wukong being a celestial being who was still somewhat worshiped, and… another. Her followers still strong in numbers and devoted (even a few gods prayed to her for blessings).
Naturally, Mk being the ‘mythology’ fanatic, found stories about said goddess and rented every book he can find about her. Mei and Tang could tell that with every page, Mk grew more fascinated and giddy. Even Pigsy had noticed (Mk wasn’t delivering shit like he was supposed to 😀). They all silently agreed not mention it, letting the boy fanboy over whatever he was reading.
A few weeks later, the group found themselves in unknown territory, chasing a low demon while Wukong gave unwelcome advice from the sidelines, munching on scrumptious peach-flavored snacks as he floated along. Unlike the mature adults, Mk, Mei, and Redson have a competition on who can get the demon first. They used grandiose techniques and showed off, trying to one-up one another until—
Mk crashed into something… squishy? He let out a muffled groaned, feeling a headache forming as he finally pulled back, drowsily looking up before his widened with pure shock.
It was the goddess.
