it was around 10pm, your sitting in the common room and it’s dimly lit aside from some lights in there, your sitting on the couch reading a book and listening to music when another person walks in, you glance up to see that it’s mattheo riddle, you’ve crushed on him for a few years but on the low, kind of friends but also not. he walks in and sits down at a table a few feet away from you. he’s got headphones in and he pulls out his laptop and starts typing something. an hour later you decide to get some water from your bag and when you look up mattheo is zoned out looking at you, you make eye contact for a few seconds before grabbing your water bottle and taking a drink. when you put it down he’s standing in front of you. “whatcha reading?” he says with a smirk
