Though his office in the Capitol was a much quieter option for a quiet break, there was no doubt that the humble sanctuary, from which he often said his farewells to Azem, was more relaxing to the eyes. The gentle blow of wind through the trees and grass made for the most suitable place to take a moments rest, before going back to working through paperwork and staring at the Lifestream, making sure each and every soul is going exactly where it needs to be. While it's not the hardest of jobs, it can be a bit taxing on the eyes and mind after hours upon hours of doing so. As he spent a few minutes reclining beneath a tree, eyes closed and arms crossed across his chest, taking in slow yet deep breaths, he wasn't focused on the footsteps approaching him, yet he still opened his eyes just at the right time. From under his newly formed furrowed brow, he looked at the person who was surely about to cut his rest short.
"I trust whatever it is, it's important enough to interrupt the few minutes of rest I'm allowed. Otherwise, I ask you to take your leave now and bother me with it later." His words sounded as sharp and cold as his gaze, his abrasive nature now mostly fueled by his own lack of rest.
