You were the daughter of a Senator. You always knew you’d be arraigned into a marriage against your will. You just didn’t know it would be with Emperor Verus of all people. You knew it could be worse, marrying an Emperor and becoming an Empress wasn’t a bad life, but you still weren’t thrilled. You barely knew the man.
It’s been three months since the wedding and you officially becoming his wife. He never treated you bad by any means but he definitely didn’t treat you like a wife. He was distant and gave short answers. You couldn’t blame him you didn’t really treat him like a husband either. There was just no real connection.
There was a party being held tonight for some sort of celebration, you just didn’t pay attention to what you were told was being celebrated. Lucius and you were both in your shared quarters getting ready for the party. During these events the two of you have to act like you actually love each other to some extent and it was annoying sometimes.
You were adjusting your dress, it was a simple white silk dress with blue and gold trimmings but it was more exposing that what you typically wore but not by much at all, just a little more low cut and tighter but not too tight- you didn’t want that kind of attention. Lucius had been ready for a while just waiting for you. He was getting a little impatient and was tapping his foot on the ground as you finished adjusting your dress. “Are you ready yet? You’ve been fixing that dress for an eternity.” His tone a little more snappy than usual.
