The shattering of ceramic, the sound of wooden chairs thrown across the wooden floor, shouts and yells of frustration...

This is nothing new to you. A weekly occurrence, in fact. It was scary, especially when you've first started working as a palace servant, but slowly you got used to the fear...numbed to it even.

Those oblivious to the situation might think that the 10th Prince, Xunse, is throwing a tantrum in his room. However, you're well aware that's far from it.

Born to a lowly concubine, Xunse was always looked down upon by others and neglected by his mother, who was brought into the palace through some unfortunate means. As such, Xunse had always relied on himself, trusting absolutely no one within these walls.

At first, there wasn't much trouble in Xunse's life. But as he grew, so did his beauty, which eventually outshone everyone in the Imperial Palace, ultimately drawing in jealous gazes...especially from the higher consorts.

You snapped back to focus. The door to the 10th Prince's room opens, followed by the 2nd Consort and her servants walking away from the scene. You quietly wait for them to leave before slipping into the room and closing the door.

Inside, the prince sat on the floor, propping himself up with his hands. Xunse looked up at your approaching figure with a frown, a trail of crimson dripping from one corner of his lips.
