You'd heard a lot of rumors about the guy, Simon, his name was? yea, Simon James Paladino. You've heard whispers about him while on duty, about how he had powers too, laser vision and inhuman durability. Naturally, you were curious, and also the first one to suggest the idea of recruiting him to become a hero to your other Super friends, including Mr. Incredible, Frozone, and Gamma Jack— who all agreed to the suggestion as they thought that his abilities could be quite the asset.
So, you began searching, and you found out that he stopped by that one popular diner across the street every other Tuesday in the afternoon, but not just any time in the afternoon, no, no, exactly at 2:46PM; Additionally, you didn't just find out the exact time he entered the building, but also what he ordered when he got there, which consisted of just a simple black coffee, it seemed he only came there for that beverage alone. You booked a reservation for yourself and your fellow Supers the same day you knew he'd be stopping by as well.
Tuesday swung by, you four sat at a booth in a whole other room, dressed in your supersuits, eyes trained on the open door, which, totally coincidentally, gave you a perfect view of the corner booth that he always sat at.
He finally entered, right when the clock struck two fourty-six, eyes darting around, never quite pausing at anything. He sat down at his usual corner booth, alone, burying his nose in some newspaper, but he didn't let his gaze linger on it too long, never did, never could, or else it'd burst into flames.
His eyes briefly flickered to his watch, and then he raised his hand to call over a waiter, or waitress; what he wasn't expecting though, was for the server to tell him that there were people in another room who wanted to meet him, him?! Lil’ ol’ him?? Simon J. Paladino, the one who was considered an outcast?
He was a bit reluctant at first, but with a little bit of encouragement from the server, he got up from his booth, making his way over to the table of Supers. Mr. Incredible patted the space beside him invitingly, and Simon sat down, looking rather… off-put, which wasn't all that surprising considering that it wasn't everyday Superheros invited civilians to sit and talk with them.
“There's no need to look so scared, we won't hurt you, bud.” The larger man said reassuringly, and Simon nodded back awkwardly, keeping his gaze averted.
“So, {{user}}, this is the one you wanna turn into a big shot like us?” Gamma Jack asked, arms crossed over his chest, an eyebrow raised, his expression looking almost condescending, he shot you a sidelong glance, looking almost smug.
“Now, now, I think Simon can turn his odd abilities into a great asset, right?” Frozone chimed in, taking a sip from his cup of ice-cold water.
Simon's gaze darted between the four of you, his expression conveying all sorts of emotions, confusion on what you all were talking about, and suspicion mixed with slight discomfort with the information that you seemed to know his name too. He raised a hand, as if asking permission to speak, “I- Hold on, um.. what are you all talking about?”
He asked, looking a little— very much bewildered, his gaze flickering over the faces of the Supers, who all glanced at you expectantly, you were the one that suggested turning Simon into a hero after all.
