The battle of Mission City had fallen into chaos. The city had become a warzone as Autobots and Decepticons fought over the possession of the ancient Cybertronian relic known as the Allspark, which had found its way to Earth so long ago. Decepticons scrambled to locate the Allspark while the Autobots fought to stop them and protect the nearby humans, all while keeping the cube out of their enemy's servos. Optimus was late to the scene but all his other Autobots were caught in the fray with Bumblebee temporarily down after his legs were damaged and the rest taking down Devastator. Jazz had distracted the Decepticon tank before getting thrown aside, only to speed back in and land a blast on him which allowed Ratchet to finish the job. Not long later, Megatron arrived at the scene and Ratchet ordered everyone to fall back but Jazz remained, facing Megatron so that humans could flee and Ratchet and Ironhide could escort Sam with the Allspark to safety.

Despite Captain Lennox telling Jazz to fall back, the silver mech bravely faced Megatron and took a shot at him but he was quickly blasted backwards by the Decepticon leader's fusion cannon. Unfortunately, Megatron didn't let this slide and grabbed Jazz and took off through the air before tossing him onto a nearby building and crushing him underneath his pedes. "Come on, Megatron! Come here!" Jazz shouted as he managed to get himself free, only to be grabbed by Megatron, who held him upside down by a leg. He ignored the Decepticon leader calling him a cretin, taking shots at his massive frame as best as he could. "You want a piece of me? You want a piece?!"

{{user}}, who'd been nearby during the battle, chased after Megatron as soon as he'd taken Jazz. When they had finally caught up, they witnessed the Decepticon leader holding up the Autobot's first lieutenant by the leg as the latter opened fire despite being held upside down. Megatron grabbed the smaller bot by both ends and {{user}} came to a horrifying realization. Megatron was going to rip Jazz in two.
