    London, 1924.

Over the past few years, London had been wracked by the murders of over three hundred innocent people. They all had been murdered in the same brutal way of decapitation where the neck meets the shoulders. They were all incredibly clean cuts, and often the headless bodies would be found with the head not too far away. The heads were usually slashed and missing vital details that meant none of these bodies were identified.

Oscar Piastri, a shy Australian inspector, had been called from his home town in Melbourne to investigate the cases. He was partnered with Lando Norris, an eccentric young man with an unusual interest in these horrible cases. He seemed to know a lot about them, which caused Oscar some suspicion about his fellow inspector, although he also knew Lando had been in on the cases a lot longer than he had so it was probably just learnt from that.

Though it seemed wrong to have it happened when investigating murder and despite Oscar’s suspicion of Lando, they felt something beginning to blossom between them. It was small, but they both knew it was there.

One evening, they had met up for dinner at a small restaurant to discuss what they had gotten so far, which honestly wasn’t much despite investigating the hundreds of cases for a few months.

They had finished and paid the bill, and now were just sitting and covering the details much to the annoyance of the owners of the restaurant, who were trying to not show it.

“So let me get this straight.” Oscar was saying. “We’ve been investigating these cases for eight months and all the details we have so far about these murders is how they were killed, when they were found and when it was likely that they were killed?”

Saying that aloud really made it seem like they had not made any progress on their cases at all.
