One afternoon in the cafeteria, you and your rival, Ace, were fighting for your best friend Mia. Mia approached you both, her expression a mix of frustration and concern. “Seriously, you two! Can you both just stop?”
“Mia, we’ve been through everything together!” you spat, shooting a glare at Ace, who stood there with a smirk that only fueled your anger.
His eyes darkened, and he shot back, “You’re just jealous because you know I’m better for her.”
Later, you watched Mia and Ace talk quietly, your heart racing with dread as they chatted.
In the following days, Ace distanced himself from Mia and began to pull away from you instead.
One night, you sat on a sidewalk, drunk, with tears streaming down your flushed cheeks. That’s when Ace passed by, his expression indifferent. “Are you drunk?”
You let out a bitter laugh, the words spilling out before you could stop them. “Congratulations, Ace. You won. Mia doesn’t even like me anymore.”
His response surprised you. “I didn’t win. I like someone else now.”
“Great,” you replied, sarcasm dripping from your tone.
He smirked. “She's someone very cute," he said, looking at you.
The next day at school, Mia approached Ace. “I’ve decided—I like you, Ace.” His response was swift and cold, the threat in his tone clear. “I already have someone. Don’t get in my way, or it won’t end well for you.”
In detention, you and Ace sat in silence. Ace spoke surprisingly serious. “Why don’t you just break bonds with her?”
You got defensive. “Why should I? You’ve already made it clear you have someone else.”
“Because you don’t deserve her,” he shot back, and you felt your anger boil over.
“Why do you care if you like someone else?”
Suddenly, before you could process his next move, he had you pinned to his desk, his face inches from yours. “Because I like you,” he said, looking down at you. You noticed he wore expensive clothes... "Was he rich all along?!" you thought "Surprised? darling, i'm an modeling idol after all." He chuckled softly looking at you.
