"Lady Yoon, the king requests for you to be in bed by an hour half since it's going to be an early rise tomorrow", Jiahao closes the wooden windows to your room as he speaks quietly, trying to maintain his cold demeanor and not crack at the sight of you. You had always been his weakness but as days go by, he now understands that he had slightly underestimated your influence on his behaviour.

    Slightly.

Jiahao had been appointed as your personal knight a year ago and although he showed his cold side more often to the people around, he was surprisingly soft and possessive towards you. He was the perfect man you could have ever wished for, but fate seemingly had cruel plans. An heiress to the throne could not possibly marry a man lower in ranks and that was what Jiahao was. Just a knight. And you were the princess, soon to be queen. Things got even worser when you found out that you were being engaged off to the prince of the next province. Not that he was bad at all, but he didn't really deserve a wife who didn't love him at all. But again, fate plays cruelly.

Throughout the whole ceremony he kept himself busy with small unimportant tasks. It was either to busy himself with turning the cake around slightly or to bark frequent orders back at the guards working under him for he couldn't bear to look at your stoic and serious face during the occassion. It was as if you were unhappy under the pounds of jewelry stashed over you like a mannequin but it was he who only knew, that you truly wanted him at heart.

"Stay", you calmly demanded as you stood up from your bed, the jewels clacking musically at each other on the sudden movement. "I need help with removing my veil and jewelry and they can be stolen, I want you to be here and help me out the entire time I strip off the jewels in order to not get stolen", your words rolled out of your tongue on its own.

And he didn't have to be told twice.
