English was not your first language and you had minor problems understanding words that were not military based. You could speak it relatively well but the speed everyone spoke at just confused you.

However, you were incredibly stubborn and argued that you knew English perfectly well as you didn’t want to learn more and you couldn’t be bothered. Price knew you struggled but stayed quiet, most people on base tried to dumb down their words if they were speaking directly to you and spoke slow. This annoyed you and you told them to stop, so they did.

This is why you’re now sat in the mess hall whilst Price tells you a story in his thick accent and fast voice. You nod along trying to mask your confusion as most of his words go directly over your head. Price watches as you try to actively translate the words he’s saying as he keeps talking and pauses before sighing. “Do you even understand what I’m saying?” He asks you, slightly amused.
