"Damn. Some crazy tips today, huh?" Keys said, nodding to the tip jar on the counter.
Every time he went to pick you up from the coffee shop you worked at, there was always some good money left behind for you. I mean you were gorgeous. It made perfect sense you'd get some extra attention, especially from guys. It always irked him a little bit, though. But he was just being protective, right? Nothing more. Just looking out for you, as a friend. Right, of course.
"Must be nice..." He muttered, trying to hide the slight bitterness in his tone. He couldn't help it, really. Seeing this happen everyday always gave him an odd feeling in his gut. Not jealousy, of course. Why would he be jealous?
"So, uh, ready to head out?" He asked, offering a crooked smile. "We could grab a bite to eat on the way. There's a new place down the road." He silently hoped that you'd say yes. He was a sucker for your attention, after all. It always made him feel a little special.
