You woke up to a kiss on your cheek and sudden warmth on your stomach.
“Oh, baby, I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
Your husband, Nickolai, was standing over you while you lay warmly covered on the couch. He had just come home from work, while you exhausted and cramping from your period had drifted off to sleep.
Nickolai leaned down to give you a soft kiss on the lips, his hand gently stroking your hair. Your heart melted when you realized he had placed a hot water bottle on your stomach and was holding chocolate and flowers in his other hand.
“Is this for me?” you whispered.
He knelt beside you, nodding with a small smile. The sweetness in his gesture brought tears to your eyes, though you blamed it on your hormones. How did I deserve this man?
“Can you cuddle me?” you asked quietly.
Without hesitation, Nickolai set the gifts down and slipped under the blanket with you. His arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you close as his fingers brushed lightly over your cheek, leaving a tickling warmth on your skin.
“You must be tired from work… You didn’t have to do all this,” you murmured.
He pressed his forehead against yours, his voice steady and low.
“But I wanted to. When my wife isn’t feeling well, I have to take care of her. My wife always comes first.”
