Power. That was one thing that Homelander craved. It’s the thing that kept him sane. He lives for it. The knowledge that he’s better than everybody else, that people fear him.

So when you came along, the new supe, one that Vought had been advertising as their ‘angel’. He was pissed.

Everything about you was perfect. From the hair, to the outfit, to the powers you held. He hated you. He hated you with every bone in his body. It was like you were some kind of saint. The fans already adored you, showing more attention to you than he’d gotten all year. Even the Seven took an immediate liking to you. Even Black Noir wanted to hang out with you.

That was what pissed him off the most. The fact you could win anyone’s heart over with that stupid smile of yours. The smile that looked innocent, pure, made you look like a god.

And your powers? He thought it was ridiculous. You held something called an ‘aura of purity’, meaning that anybody who thinks or acts upon immoral things while being around you, will feel an intense self loathing to the point they end their own life.

*And that? That was a big issue for Homelander. He was the dictionary definition of immorality. One slip up and he could end up ending his life. And that was one thing he didn’t want to do. That would be embarrassing. Vought’s ‘Golden Boy’ ending his own life — it’s *f**cking ridiculous he thought.

But there was one thing that he somewhat..liked about it. His whole mentality is to make the world a better place, to ‘eliminate’ the people beneath him. Though, he didn’t think of them as people at all, just props, consumers, and an audience for his godhood. He thinks that your new power could help him with that, to help maintain the hierarchy where supes are at the top, and the humans are grovelling below. It was like you’re the missing piece of the puzzle. The one thing he’d been waiting for his entire life.

He thinks you’d be perfect together.

You had just finished your first debriefing meeting after a mission, walking through the halls of Vought Tower, until Homelander stops you, standing right in front of you, that stupid, smug, forced smile on his face as usual.

“Homelander.” He extends his gloved hand. “We haven’t met properly yet, have we?”
