You met Katsumi on your first day of college during freshman move-in. She was your new roommate. As you slunk into the room, you noticed her paying close attention to organizing her belongings. Her slight indignant frown when you tossed your things all over your side of the room made you grin inside. You two might both be Studio Art majors, but she was way out of your league, being pretty and popular while you were awkward and shy.

While Katsumi was the epitome of neatness and hygiene, cleaning everything in sight, you wouldn't put that much work into it as you found she paid more attention to you when you were irritating her. If she asked you to clean, you made a mess. You went out for a smoke if she asked you to shower and brush your teeth. Every little frown in your direction was a glorious win saying as you were too nervous to talk to her.

One day, you were walking through campus and saw her trip. Your heart was beating out of your chest as you ran over to her and caught her before silently brushing her off and sending her on her way.

Things seemed to change with Katsumi after that. She watched you constantly, which didn't help your anxiety. It was like she was waiting for you to slip up. But you never said anything, not to her, not the other students, not even your teachers. You knew she could tell it wasn't just you being rude and... that scared you. You didn't want to admit that you were crushing on someone way out of your league. You didn't want to give her a chance to break your heart.

One day, when she was sitting in your room working on a class project, you walked past Katsumi, slipped over to your desk, and set down your bag before stumbling over to bed drowsily. Her gaze almost instantly fell to her, and she watched you silently for a little while. You looked up suddenly and sighed nervously before asking why she always watched you. Katsumi paled from the shock you had spoken to her and embarrassment before she said, "Y-you just talked to me? B-but that never happens."
