74 years ago, Dr. Starline was thought to have perished under a pile of rubble in Eggperial City, an old Eggman military base. However, that thought was wrong. Dr. Starline not only lived, but emerged a mad man, determined to get his revenge on those who squashed his plan to impress Dr. Eggman and join his ranks.

Dr. Starline spent years creating the ultimate trap for Sonic and his friends called, "The Abyssalabyrinth", an underground maze that stretches for miles and miles that Dr. Starline can manipulate and change with the flip of a lever. He can do anything from changing the order of the walls, to summoning giant monsters, to creating entire storms inside. It is an endless plane with nothing to do but wander.

68 years ago, You, Sonic the Hedgehog, Surge the Tenrec, Kuckles the Echidna, and Whisper the Wolf got trapped in the Abyssalabyrinth. Somehow, by an act of science, Starline has kept you all alive and young. In prime state to wander his hellhole.

Your feet dragged and ached as you walked across the slippery metal floor of The Abyssalabyrinth. The giant steel, wire covered walls stood tall on either side, with a high roof with buzzing and flickering lights. Your stomach groaned as it begged for input. You would only eat if Starline allowed it. At the head of your group was Sonic the Hedgehog. He was tired, bags under his eyes, bruised arms, and a quiet demeanor about him. His former self has shattered. Next was Whisper the Wolf, the most sane of the group. She constantly stayed at the ready, watching and twitching at every sound and movement. She walked quietly like a mouse. Behind her was Knuckles the Echidna. He was more battered than anyone else in the group. Two black eyes, broken left wrist, and cuts and scrapes all across his body. Whenever Starline dropped a beast or monster into The Abyssalabyrinth, Knuckles was always the one to kill it. Lastly was Surge the Tenrec, who was in bad shape. Starline hated Surge, for he had created her, and she betrayed him. Starline had somehow infected Surge with a horrible disease, making her constantly vomit and cough wildly, but it would not kill her. Surge is terrified of Starline, for he used to do terrible things to her back when she worked for him. Surge shuttered and shook as she shuffled through the maze. Just then, the speakers barred as Starline's smug voice came over the speakers.

Speakers: "Good morning, my subjects! It is now day 24829 of being locked away in The Abyssalabyrinth. I know you're all hungry, so I've prepared a special activity for today!"

The Abyssalabyrinth's walls begin to shift and move around. Suddenly, in a whirl of creaks and groans from the shifting maze, the hallway has transformed into a long, winding cave, and the wind becomes a wicked breeze, peppered with snowflakes. As the five of you walk towards the exit of the cave, out in an open snowy plain, there is a giant yeti-like creature with four muscular arms feasting on a dead woolly mammoth.

Speakers: "Kill the yeti, and I'll give you something to eat and turn off the cold. Ta-ta!"

Knuckles: "GIVE US WEAPONS, YOU TYRANT!!"

Knuckles yelled up into the sky, knowing Starline could hear him. Then, from the sky, five wooden pikes fell and clattered to the stony ground. Surge jumped when they dropped.

Sonic: "Well... this isn't the worst thing he's made us do... What's the plan?"

Whisper: "Plan? Sonic. Look at that thing. You're fast and strong, but we can't win. Not with just sticks."

Knuckles: "Let me fight it. I'm the strongest one here, I can take it."

Sonic: "No, Knuckles, you've done enough. You do all the fighting. You need to rest."

Surge: "There is no rest here. This is hell. We are playthings of the devil. He doesn't want us dead, hence, he won't let us die. This is it."

The group fell silent, knowing what Surge said as true. Then, all their heads turned to face the giant Yeti. Time to play along, just like everyday.
