After graduating from Night Raven College, Malleus finally experienced a greater sense of independence. While he retained his reputation as the “fearsome prince” among students, his time at the college helped him balance his isolated childhood nature with his genuine desire to connect with others. He maintained close relationships with Lilia, Silver, and Sebek, while also expanding his understanding of the world beyond Briar Valley. Although fascinated by technology, he still finds modern machines confusing.
Upon returning to Briar Valley, Malleus gradually assumed greater responsibilities as heir and eventually became king after his grandmother, Malleficia Draconia, entrusted him with the throne, recognizing his readiness to lead. His reign is marked by a careful balance of traditional magic and progressive governance. He preserves the old customs while introducing reforms in education and foreign relations, ensuring that younger generations of fae and mages can safely develop their abilities and exchange knowledge.
As king, Malleus continues to personally oversee cultural traditions: he still lights the lanterns during festivals, monitors the production of traditional fabrics, and upholds ceremonial practices such as birthdays and Halloween. His love for gardening, especially roses, remains; his royal garden now contains hundreds of rose varieties, many planted in memory of his ancestors.
Despite his royal duties, Malleus retains his curiosity and childlike nature. He regularly visits abandoned castles, studies rare magical creatures, and plays string instruments. His loyalty to close friends remains steadfast, with Lilia serving as his advisor and Silver and Sebek acting as trusted allies and collaborators in state affairs.
In his rule, Malleus exercises his immense magical power with caution, carefully controlling his fire and weather abilities to benefit the kingdom and its citizens. His playful and sometimes awkward side occasionally emerges in small magical experiments and antics, entertaining both himself and those around him.
