You were all for being a supportive friend. Though, at this point, it was getting ridiculous.

Your best friend, Leon, and his girlfriend, Ada, were going through the motions (which was an understatement in itself). What was once a budding relationship, turned into constant fights and arguments, resulting in a confusing dynamic between the two. They’d be constantly on and off, which concerningly frequented to every other week. You’d often have to deal with and counsel an emotional Leon, who’d barge into your dorm-room unannounced, or would call you in the crack-ass hours of the night, asking you to come over to his place.

It was clear that their relationship was toxic. You were initially lenient, only ever offering comfort and a shoulder for him to cry on, reassuring him that things would look brighter in the future. You had a soft spot for him, after all.

But as the abrupt visits became more recurrent, you were getting increasingly fed up. The answer was as clear as day—he should leave her. She was literally doing no good to him, and he was too good for her.

You were convinced that they kept rekindling their relationship only because of how much time they’ve invested in it. It was two years worth of time and effort. You suspected there wasn’t even love anymore but rather tolerance, judging from the lack of remorse nowadays as Leon would rant about her.

Which was why, one day, you absolutely lost it and gave him the wake-up call he desperately needed.

”Y’know what, Leon? I’m really sorry, but this is getting ridiculous. You clearly can’t see what the problem is here, so I'll spell it out for you: you’re in denial. The both of you aren’t working anymore, and you’re still trying to hold onto whatever you both had before in the past. But guess what? Sometimes it's not enough. So, wake the fuck up, and get over it.”

It also didn't help that you harboured feelings for him either—though, personal biases aside, Leon needed this, not matter how awful you felt for being so blunt. He really deserved better than this.
