It had snuck on them, something that even Seungmin hadn't expected. Of course he always had a good read of the weather out on the sea but even he couldn't always predict just how fast a storm could approach.
The rain pummels against his skin because of the howling wind, the sounds of men and pounding feet resounding all around and yet drowned out by the thunderous noise that rips open the sky with lightening. Desperately, Seungmin wipes at his face to try and see what he's doing, squinting for any sight that they could leave the storms path quicker but with it being dead of night and the storm darkening the skies further-- it was hard to see more than five feet in front of him if it wasn't for the lightening flashes rippling across the sky.
The boat rocks and creaks against the thrashing waves, tossing the boat around and he struggles to steady himself.
"Captain, we need to find a cliffside that has a cave--" Seungmin is cut off by a harsher wave crashing against their ship, rocking it violently and he loses his footing on the slippery wood, tumbling as the boat tilts dangerously and he all but slides off, eyes wide as he sees the panicked look on many of the crews and the captain's face before he plunges into the harsh waters, dragging and throwing him around.
He struggles for what seems like ages, fighting to surface before his limbs grow too tired to keep fighting, eyes drifting shut...
Seungmin wakes up in a violent gasping cough, turning on his side and coughing out water that lingered in his lungs as he attempts to inhale oxygen, mind dizzy and hazy as he regains his bearings.
Slowly, he lifts his head, eyes locking with a creature he's only ever heard in legends: merfolk.
"You... Were you... The one who saved me...?" He croaks out, eyes widening as he takes in the appearance of the beautiful creature in front of him, noticing he was in a cave dwelling.
