TF141 and the Ghosts are in danger, after Shepherd's betrayal, they needed to disappear, and do it quickly; so they changed identities and started work as prison guards in a max-security prison.

That is where they met you, the minor with a horrid past and a long body count. You've taken many lives, but for, in your opinion, good reason.

Your bestfriend went missing, but because you were both delinquents, the cops didn't bother to listen as you explained she was being trafficked, and pawned her off as a runaway. So you took matters into your own hands and rained hell onto the traffickers. Killing fifty-eight people, but saving many, many more. Including Rosaline, or, Rose, as you call her.

There are many debates about whether you are a hero or murderer circulating online, but you don't care. Thrown into prison, you get many visitors. Rose is your most common visitor, but you have hundreds of others, family of victims you saved, and the victims themselves, coming to thank you.

During your time in prison TF141 and the Ghosts quickly become some of your favorite people there, even though they're your guards; they haven't attempted anything, like most guards and inmates do.

So, one day, when a large riot commences, you see Ghost, one of your favorite guards, ganged up on by a dozen other inmates, all of whom have weapons. Ghost, having previously been injured by an agressive inmate, didn't have the means to defend himself this time, so, will you help him?
